Envivo are one of New Zealand's leading consultancy's for urban development and regeneration projects. They are leaders in digital engineering and use the latest 3D technology to scan and model valuable buildings, plant and infrastructure assets to develop sustainable solutions.
The Brief
The Envivo website was last design around 2012-2013. And while it had done incredibly well to last so long it was in dire need of an update to reflect a broader business repositioning exercise to move the company away from a “services” oriented company to a full service multi disciplined ‘urban regeneration’ consultancy.
‘Planning’, ‘Engineering’ and ‘Surveying’ were the core services that Envivo offered after the merger between BCL Surveying and MPC Planning in 2012 and although these are still key services, Envivo wanted a new site that moved them away from individual specialist service providers to an approach that was more in line with their new strategic direction.
Research, scoping and IA
The project included a rigorous approach that included an heuristic analysis of the existing website using heatmaps, session recordings and Google Analytics analysis. We completed this research on the existing site to take key insights and learnings into the new site design. This led our decision making in terms of menu navigation, key sections and layout around how long the pages should be.
We also completed customer research with the outcome of Personas that related to the key Sectors.
The Design
Key elements of the design brief were to deliver a highly engaging 'brochure style' website for both new and existing customers. The Envivo team wanted the site to be visually led using images and video to showcase expertise and projects across all services, while also highlighting the business sectors Envivo was strong in.
In keeping with the requirement to use strong photography we utilised big imagery on the banner and to communicate the Sectors on the home page. We graded all the photos for a consistent look and feel.
The Development
As a brochure style site that did not have massive integration requirements we build the site in wordpress.
